Good day!

Required materials for success:

  • Notebook
  • Pencil #2 or Mechanical
  • Binder 2” or a folder
  • School Issued Computer
  • Textbooks will not be issued in this class. We will use Google Classroom, pHet, Nearpod, and possibly more on-line resources for materials and activities.

Academic Integrity:

All students will be held to a high standard.  All work that is completed will be completed by the student and original.  Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and will result in a phone call home and a zero score for that assignment including tests, quizzes, projects, etc.

Homework, Classwork, Late work, and Makeup work

Homework will be assigned periodically; the student will usually have several days to complete it.   It is the student’s responsibility to show the work which is required to receive credit.

Working with other students, the instructor, or both on homework is encouraged. However, work that is turned in must be unique to the individual; blindly copying is prohibited, and will serve no purpose to the student and will be given a 0 (see the Academic Integrity section above).  Some lectures will be accompanied by Nearpod interactive presentations. It is my expectation that students are signed into Nearpod, following the presentation, and participating in class exercises/practice problems. Absent students are responsible for completing any missed assignment. The vast majority of labs contain videos that allow students missing from class to complete the assignment.  If a test, quiz, or lab with no video is missed the student must schedule an appointment with me on the day they return to make it up.  Certain labs will not be available to make up due to time limitations, so an alternative research assignment will be required.

Students will have one day for every day you are absent to make up missed assignments.  Any work that is due the day you are absent will be turned in the day the student returns.  IT IS CMCSS POLICY THAT WORK MISSED DUE TO ABSENCES, EVEN EXCUSED, BE ENTERED AS A ZERO UNTIL MADE UP. If the student does not make the work up the grade will remain a zero.  Late Work may be accepted at my discretion and will be assigned a penalty of at least 30%. I RETAIN THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY LATE WORK. Late work receives a lower priority for entry into the gradebook than work turned in on time. If the student wants their assignments entered in a timely manner, then they must turn them in on time.

Students are expected to:

  • Arrive to class on time, prepared and ready to learn.
  • Speak at appropriate times, using appropriate voice and language.
  • Be respectful and understanding of peers and instructors and school property.
  • Follow all NWHS rules and procedures. (10/10 Rule)
  • Show a willingness to cooperate and work with others.
  • Phones and Laptops are to be put away and are not allowed to be used unless needed for an activity, lab, or if there is an emergency.
